Revit Model

Revit Model

This Revit model is a simplified version of the building from my Wall-E themed restaurant project, Re-Vive.  Revit is a very powerful design tool for architecture and the integration of various disciplines.  However, from an interior design perspective, I felt that without advanced skills I was not able to accurately portray my creative visions.  The Re-Vive restaurant was designed to look as though it was built from found and recycled materials, filled with very unique and eclectic finishes and furnishings.  Since the objective of my Revit class was not design, but mastery of the software principles, I abandoned the original design while building this...

Surf Lagoons – Waterpark Concept

Surf Lagoons – Waterpark Concept

Surf Lagoons came to VizSource looking to create renderings of their wave pool product in a variety of scenarios.  The images in this post illustrate a bit of the process we went through, wherein I was able to take inspiration from a handful of existing waterpark concepts to help create an environment in which their product could be brought to...

Shiekh Shoes

Shiekh Shoes

Shiekh Shoes came to VizSource to create renderings of a concept for their new flagship store in San Francisco, California.  Like many VizSource clients, they had great concepts, specific needs to be addressed, but not a lot of design direction or documentation for the artist to work with.  I was able to work with them to refine their design concept, create a layout for their store that met their branding and departmental needs, as well as help to define a brand new aesthetic for their...

Nichols Residence

Nichols Residence

This is a proposal for the redesign of a three story townhouse in Tribeca, NYC recently purchased by film historians and entrepreneurs Max and Rachel Nichols.  Tribeca is a popular filming location for television and movies, and the home of the Tribeca Film Festival.  The ground floor of the space will be renovated to house CINEPHILIA, the Nichols’ movie memorabilia business. The second and third floors will be renovated to create a private residence for the Nichols.  The clients would like their private space to reflect their style and personality, as well as their love of film.  The designed space will reflect a quasi-Hollywood Regency style.  There are a wide...

East Wind Wellness

East Wind Wellness

East Wind Wellness is a destination holistic medical center located just outside of the Wulingyuan Scenic Area near Zhangjiajie, in the Hunan province of China.  The goal of Chinese medicine is to balance the yin and the yang in the body.  Similarly, this design balances the traditions of the East and the West, opening doors to Eastern Traditions, just as Marco Polo and Kublai Khan did centuries ago. This project was primarily an exercise in programming and finishes.  We were provided only with an extensive live of programming requirements and the footprint of the building.  The rest was up to us.  Level one (above) consists of public areas, commercial offices and...

re-VIVE

re-VIVE

An all new restaurant based on the 2008 Disney-Pixar film, WALL-E. The story follows a robot named WALL-E, who is designed to clean up the abandoned, waste-covered Earth far in the future. He falls in love with another robot named EVE, who has a programmed task of returning to Earth to search for signs of regeneration. After WALL-E stumbles upon a seedling, he follows EVE into outer space on an adventure that changes the destiny of both his kind and humanity. This concept picks up where the film left off: just as humanity is returning to repopulate the planet and begin terrestrial life anew. In the year 2805, the human race returned to Earth to regenerate terrestrial...

S.T.R.E.A.M.

S.T.R.E.A.M. (Student Transitional Recreation, Enrichment And Mentoring) is a joint venture between Harmonium, San Diego State University and Intel to provide “out of school” recreation, enrichment and mentoring to the youth of North Park.  The program will be staffed by students from SDSU, who will receive college credit to serve as mentors and provide seminar-style instruction in their area of expertise. The mosaic by Ilona Bryan show below represents the flow of water as it travels from the earth, to a spring, to stream, to a river, and on to the ocean.  Once there, it evaporates, becomes a cloud and eventually rains down upon the earth again.  The water...

Mama Odie’s Bayou Tale

Mama Odie’s Bayou Tale

Aptly nestled between the Rivers of America and Fantasyland is Mama Odie’s Bayou Tale.  Explore the Louisiana Bayou and visit Mama Odie’s tree house to hear the tale of Tiana and Naveen’s magical transformation and happily ever after. The soon to be iconic entrance to the attraction features yet another sub-species in the grand tradition of the Disneydendron semperflorens grandis, a towering cypress tree with a dilapidated shrimp boat cradled precariously in its branches. Guests queue through the shady outdoor bayou, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the story.  At night, this area comes to life with the flickering of fireflies and enchanted...

Concept for Old Port Coffee Company

Concept for Old Port Coffee Company

Old Port Coffee Company was a test project to pilot a new service at VizSource:  providing concept design for our clients that came to us with ideas, but without plans or references. As part of this process, we made all the initial design and decor decisions based on their ideas, provided them with a first draft rendering, then involved them in refining the final rendering/design. Below I have also included a screenshot of what the client submitted as their idea and the “before” pictures of the space....
